The following people have been my mentors & friends to me and to the students
at Roosevelt High School with whom we both work

Please visit their sites! My students and I are very fortunate to work with such
community-minded individuals!

Cass and her excellent staff have been incredibly helpful to me over the last several
years. Without their mat color selection, my work would be "flat" and lifeless.
Cass has also agreed to sell my matted giclée prints and note card sets from her
Black Squirrel Gallery.

Cass initially planted the idea for me to capture recognizable &/or historic Kent
scenes, stating that there was a such a need in the gallery. So, she's really the
backbone of this venture. Her constant encouragement and help have made all the
difference.

I also deeply appreciate all the work the staff of McKay Bricker does with my students
and the discounts they offer them. And I have been most impressed by their
generosity with the Kent community. Please stop and browse if you haven't already!
Paulette Thurman...is creator & owner of  Frogs in Bloom
In the summer of 1996, Paulette Thurman first noticed baby tree frogs in her
northeastern Ohio garden. She found them nestled in lilies, dahlias, hostas,
campanulas, and houseplants set out for the summer. So it was out of curiosity
and amusement that the collection began. In no time, friends were offering to buy
prints and enlargements. An idea was born. Beginning in earnest in the spring of
2001, Paulette has been photographing baby tree frogs each summer since.

She frequently is a guest speaker in my photography classes at Theodore
Roosevelt High School in Kent, and this is invaluable to my students!

I consider her my art mentor as she is very enthusiastic about her work and about
sharing it with others. She has made a business out of finding a niche and
marketing it. In addition, she has also given me many important leads on where to
buy materials, how to sell, etc.
Jennifer Eddy is a Certified Picture Framer at McKay Bricker Gallery and I want to
recognize all that she has done for me and my students. She is the person who
works most closely with them and is my constant consultant with issues related to
my students or with my own matting dilemmas!  Not only does she mat a picture
for each student. She also visits our lab to explain "finishing techniques" such as
the matting process, color decision-making, and using matting to crop. Thanks,
Jen, for giving our work that added dimension of being "finished" and for helping
us all learn how to work a little magic like you do!
Photo Partners
Judy Pratt is the owner and operator of  Photo Shop by Judith (formerly News &
Photo Shop). She also runs a successful wedding photography business,
Photos
by Judith
and can be reached at 330-677-9053. Photo students have the distinct
privilege of working with Judy as she does custom printing and has been working
as a color photo printer for over 20 years. Without her expertise and generosity, the
students at TRHS would not be able to put their best foot forward since the only
other custom color lab in the area is in Akron.
Thanks, Judy, for "tweeking" our prints to give them the best color & saturation
possible!
Please visit Judy and give her your business. She is located at 227 N. Water St. in
Kent.
